We
at the Children's Workshop are committed to the Montessori Philosophy, the
well-being of all our families and to providing the highest possible
quality education;
meeting the individual needs of our children at the school

The
child’s need to learn by exploring is supported by the following:
-
The
classrooms consist of carefully prepared and sequenced teaching
materials and equipment.
-
The
teachers (directresses) guide the child’s energy, interest and
enthusiasm into self-enriching channels over a three-year period
-
Everything
in the classroom is child-sized and intended for the child’s use.
-
The
children “work” because it is exciting to learn from the wide
range of activities presented.
-
The
children learn to appreciate and care for their classrooms and the
beautifully crafted Montessori materials.
-
The
directresses help each child individually by demonstrating the
special materials.
-
Individual
capabilities and the interests of each child are respected as each
student develops at their own rate.
The
assistants in the Montessori environment are teachers in training or
have just qualified and are gaining experience in the environment.
We
as a staff encourage the total development of each child by modeling an
intrinsic love and respect for all life.
The
Children’s Workshop was founded in 1980.
It was the first Montessori School in Cape Town.
The Children’s Campaign Trust purchased it 3 years ago.
The
objective of this trust is to operate as a business for profit and this
profit is then distributed to “children at risk” projects in and
around Cape Town.
Our
school offers
nursery,
pre-school
and
primary
facilities.
